I want to share some information on the Board of Education election coming up in April. Last year, our team helped produce a turnout that broke every Board of Education election record in the history of the city, and our hope is that this year we will do the same. I am very proud and excited about the three candidates we have, and even more excited about how they were selected.

Last night, with a showing of a over 200 community members, Councilman Fulop and the Jersey City Council passed (8-0) a resolution demanding equitable funding for Jersey City's underfunded charter schools.  While the council does not control the funding equation, Jersey City education advocate Shelley Skinner believes the resolution will put pressure on state officials.

The public will get its chance to speak on an ordinance Wednesday that would limit lifetime health benefits to only those retiring Jersey City workers with 25 years of municipal employment.

But the ordinance, sponsored by Ward E Councilman Steven Fulop, but amendments to the legislation are significant enough, that it will have to be reintroduced at a alter meeting.
