Councilman Steve Fulop Holds Holiday Toy Drive
After receiving hundreds of toy donations in last year’s toy drive, Ward E Councilman Steve Fulop has announced his second holiday toy drive on Sunday, December 11th, from 12-3pm at his office (353 2nd Street).
“Last year we raised close to $5,000 in toys in our first try and this year I am hoping we can do more,” Fulop said in an email to JCI. The councilman added that the headquarters has thus far only been open for one weekend and already “it is piling up with coats and toys. Jersey City is remarkable in its sense of community.”
Fulop’s drive will be collecting the toys and then partnering with a number of churches in the Haitian community in Greenville, as well as helping to organize with the Montgomery Gardens Housing and 100 Montgomery’s Toy Drive to get the toys where they’re needed most. “
We also have plenty of families that call us randomly asking how we handle the toy distribution so we let those families just pick stuff up before we give to the larger toy drives,” Fulop said.
