Former Dumont Mayor Andrew LaBruno has spent the last decade revitalizing his community and advocating for the needs of his neighbours. Elected to the Dumont Borough Council in 2018 and Mayor in 2019, he relentlessly pushed for public safety reforms and housing justice. These issues continue to be priorities for LaBruno in his current position as a Police Sergeant in Jersey City. Formerly, LaBruno advocated for his community as Union President of the Jersey City Police Superior Officers Association. A dedicated Dumont resident, LaBruno also volunteered as a coach for Dumont Recreation sports and founded the 501(c)(3) non-profit Dumont Community Group (DCG) in 2016. Under his leadership, DCG revitalized the Dumont 5K, launched Movies in the Park, organized the first town-wide garage sale, and supported cherished events like Dumont Day. With his unique background in New Jersey law enforcement, LaBruno brings a firm belief in governing on the ground.
