Brittany Claybrooks, is a former Councilwoman in East Orange. She has also served as the Director of the Division of Planning for the City of Plainfield and the North Jersey Political Director for Congressman Andy Kim in his recent Senate Race.
Brittany received her Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Development from New York University and her Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management and Administration from Florida A&M University.
She has dedicated her career to public service and working in various government and public service institutions including the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice; The Florida of Department Health; the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation where she served in the office of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi; and Young Invincibles – a national nonprofit that helped negotiate portions of the Affordable Care Act and advocates on behalf of millennial Americans in the areas of higher education, health, economic development and young parents’ initiatives.
Ultimately, Brittany is guided by her faith and challenging upbringing in Detroit. She stands by the notion that it is the responsibility of the government to make people’s lives better and easier. She has remained unapologetic in her pursuit to help keep our public system accountable for doing its part and she seeks to continue empowering others to do the same!
