Romi Herrera immigrated to the United States in 1993, living in the city of Paterson until 2005, when he moved to Garfield. Since then, Herrera has been an involved community leader, intimately understanding the problems and needs of Garfield. Herrera is also the founder and president of Garfield United, an organization focused on empowering children and their families and improving their lives within the community. Herrera currently serves as a member of the Bergen County Latino American Advisory Board, the City of Garfield Planning Board, and as Vice President of the Garfield Democratic County Committee. Additionally, he has been involved in numerous community service organizations. He believes in fighting for the interests of working families and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone.
